SmartGuide - interactive mobile tourist guide

SmartGuide is personal(ized) interactive mobile audio tourist guide.
[ very formal/technical decription : ]
Indivisible units of text tourist information (sentence/half-sentence, which are guide content) are selected and scheduled as flow of semantic sequence according to dynamic geo-location (speed and direction of movement - GPS or indoor positioning) and multi-threaded user profile, and turned into audio stream via Text-To-Speech technology.

Guides content – as sets of indivisible units of tourist guide info - will be created/crowdsourced by any author/third_party using special multi-language platform with extensive support like simulation and translation, integrated with appstore, where users will select and buy guides.

There are foreseen three modes of SmartGuide operations:
1. outdoor - mobile, under GPS coverage
2. indoor - mobile, generally e.g. museums and/or closed objects
[ switching outdoor indoor should be transparent to the user ]
3. virtual - for desktop/tablet use,

Main part of SmartGuide: content auto-adjustment to dynamic geo-location context is covered by patent application.

There are two more areas to be applies:
- public transport (and bikes) - integration with schedules (how to reach proper bus/tram/bike station, when and where to leave/transfer)
- full scope informatory: list of available up-to-date events, cinemas, museums, ... , virtually any kind of info required by incomers (not only foreigners)

Cities may use SmartGuide as its promotional tool with appropriate arrangement of content - distributed for free to all incomers in tourist and travel places via WiFi hotspots (local distribution).

Expected is also cooperation with various tourist and promotional bodies.

Looking for partners interested in developing SmartGuide - its technical/technological part is almost ready to be deployed.

Coffee Cruising Helsinki

Coffee Cruising

The Finns are the biggest coffee drinkers in the world so it wouldn't surprise you that drinking coffee is very important to them. Did you know they even got a law about coffee in there book of justice? Well they have. In big black letters it says: four 'o'clock coffee break. No kidding. So that's why I thought of a coffee tour through Helsinki to find all the best places to drink your coffee.

How
For the tour you will need a mobile phone with GPS and internet and with a special Coffee Cruising app which you can download for free.

What
The app will let you cruise through green Helsinki and lets you enjoy the nature and the outside air. And because it can get pretty cold in Finland you can warm yourself up in a cosy café you will find close by in your map in the app and drink the finest coffee

The app
You can search the app in different ways.
1) You can find coffee bars in your nearby surroundings
2) You can choose your spot by selecting it from a list of best rated coffee café's.
3) You search by different area and see all the different coffee cafe's.
4) Find people that are using the same app as you do and are open for conversation. There's nothing better dan coffee and a good conversation.

Pluses
+ You will get to all the best coffee bars in town.
+ You can enjoy green Helsinki outside and warm up inside in a cosy coffee café
+ You will meet the locals which you will find inside the café's.
+ You can do this tour by yourself since there a functionality to meet new coffee addicts in the same coffee café. This way you can always have a nice little chat.
+ You will get to new areas in the city that you would't have visited without the app.

Rewards
Every coffee café you have visited will give you a coffee button. When you have collected enough buttons you will receive a free coffee mug. With this coffee mug you can fill your coffee with a discount. Better for you and better for nature.:)

Visit Plannr

A Smart City needs to be able to PREDICT future needs/situations in order to avoid future problems or take advantage in benefit of their citizens and visitors.
Nowadays, tourists have many options to plan their visit to a new city, but most of them lack of real-time information regarding events in the city (huge queues in Helsinki's Ateneum, renovations in Gare du Nord or diversion on bus 197 to Rijksmuseum). This information is public but tourists normally do not have the information channels citizens are used to.

VisitPlannr allows the city to:
- PREDICT future flows of tourists along the city (aggregating dates of visit and interests/tourist profiles) and ACT ahead proposing itineraries to enhance the touristic experience while avoiding agglomerations and other unexpected inconveniences. These itineraries will propose a specific sequence of points of interest.
- create a new CHANNEL to broadcast interesting news or direct personalized messages to a certain tourist profile.
- create a PLATFORM for local businesses (restaurants, galleries,...) to attract visitors by creating temporal offers.

VisitPlannr allows tourists to:
- Plan their itineraries through the city to visit points of interest, attend events and avoid unplanned inconveniences.
- Receive discounts/offers to attractions, restaurants,… along their itinerary.
- Receive City news and customized notifications (rock concert tonight)
- Follow itineraries curated by City personalities (artists, major,...)

Example of use:
1. Tourist opens the VisitPlannr and selects the dates of their visit, main interests (art, gastronomy, music, ...) and places they want to visit.
2. App uses the information from all the users, discounts/offers from third parties, any temporal event (renovations, stations closed, strikes,..) to create itineraries that OPTIMIZE the flow of tourists and maximize their experience.

Who isn’t willing to feel like a local resident in the foreign city you’re visiting? Visiting a locals’ job would give you stress, dropping by his parents’house would be strange, but what about enjoying his homemade food?

In every city we see so many foodstores you already know, or restaurants can be expensive, too crowded or not ‘cosy ‘ enough. In every city there are people who have a passion for food and cooking, and what if they are recognizable in an app for tourists. Then people who are offering great food and ambiance in their house will meet curious foreign people: both of them will have a surprising time in wich they can share tastes and stories.

Search on app for:

1) Composition of family members (single person, married couple, people with kids, a group of friends who live together)
2) Surroundings (part of Amsterdam, sort of apartment)
3) Time of the day (breakfast, lunch, diner)
4) Sort of food (vegetarian food, typical Dutch, specialized dishes)

‘Win win’ Goals for the tourist:

1) Escaping the busy places where all touristst meet, and where Lonely Planets guide you to
2) Experiencing the taste of local people, and the way they serve this in a domestic way
3) Getting to know openminded local people, and share experiences with them

‘Win win’ Goals for the locals:

1) They can determine their own prices of the food they are offering
2) New company can give them a fresh wind in their life, and preparing food for other people will give them more appreciation
3) The tourists can give references as a part of the app, and their home and cooking skills will be promoted
